5 Ways for Boaters to Enjoy the Jubilee Weekend
1: This weekend myself, Neil Chapman from Boatshed and Jan Knox from Canal Experience Training are all heading to the Crick Boat Show in Northamptonshire 2nd - 5th June. If you’re going there too then come along to the Boatshed stand to talk about boats!
The Boxmoor Canal Festival, usually held in Hertfordshire 3rd - 5th June is sadly cancelled due to the number of other special celebrations on this weekend.
2: If you’re in Gloucestershire the IWA National Trailboat Festival will be held in Stroud from 2nd - 4th June.
3: On the 2nd June there will be a Diamond Jubilee street party at the historic canal workers cottages at The National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port.
4: On Sunday 3rd of course you can head into central London to see her Majesty The Queen’s Jubilee Pageant. Make sure you get your patriotic fascinator from The Floating Salon! (pictured). More pics on her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheFloatingSalon1

5: Waterwytche from the EvaLunacy blog has recently set up an online community called Boaters, using Streetclub. The Boaters Community have just won £500 in Tesco‘s vouchers to spend on a Jubilee event so they’re holding a Royalists and Republicans picnic on the green at the Thames and Kennet Marina, which has plenty of visitor moorings and a bar which will be open that day. Streetclub has supplied red white and blue tablecloths. Visit Evalunacyfor more details.
If you’re not near any of these events there are plenty more celebrations planned on the waterways. Visit Waterscape for a full listing. http://www.waterscape.com/features-and-articles/events
Hopefully it’s going to be a gloriously sunny few days. From all at Boatshed Grand Union, we hope you enjoy the long weekend. Many thanks to her Majesty for the extra day off.
If you’ve got a boaty or watery event planned tweet it to me and I’ll retweet it!
