April Weather On The Thames
Everything from sunshine to hail!
Here at Boatshed Thames I like to keep you updated on the River Thames and what I am doing, if you see Akvavit out and about please say hello.
So myself and the other half aka the Food and Beverage Director decided to take a trip out on Saturday afternoon to enjoy the beauty of the River Thames whatever the weather and time of year. The sun was shining however the wind was hiding around some of the bends with a vengeance which made it quite chilly at times, it was a case of jacket on, jacket off and then on again!
We saw quite a bit of wildlife including ducks, swans, coots, crested grebes and even a kingfisher.
Saturday evening the river was calm as you can see from the deck of TWYC where we enjoyed the St Georges dinner and entertainment. www.twyc.co.uk
Sunday saw everything from brilliant sunshine to hail, April is really living up to it's April showers. Considering I was in shorts at the end of March enjoying 20C while laying under my boat anti-fouling it then it's very confusing.
I also saw my first ducklings of the season. Mummy duck and her six ducklings are living in Windsor marina www.mdlmarinas.co.uk/mdl-windsor-marina so I will be able to keep a watch on them to see how they get on. Seeing the ducklings makes me know that summer is on it's way and we can all get out on the river Thames to enjoy it in full. I just need to have that first bank side BBQ!
