Broker's Comments

Boatshed Wales is delighted to present this Hunter Sonata for sale, a renowned British-built racer-cruiser yacht produced by Hunter Boats Limited between 1976 and 1990.

Designed by the acclaimed David Thomas, it boasts a durable glass-fibre hull and an iron keel, with over 400 units built—testifying to its enduring popularity and successful design. This fin keel version offers exciting performance for those interested in both racing and fast cruising.

The interior layout accommodates up to four people, with four berths, making it ideal for a family or a small group of adults. Additionally, the boat comes with a road trailer, offering flexibility for relocation and a broader range of storage options. Included is a 5hp Mariner engine, which conveniently retracts while under sail.

The yacht has achieved RYA National Status as a One-Design Class, and many sailing clubs continue to host Sonata-specific races. Its strong racing pedigree, combined with its versatility as a cruising vessel, makes it a favorite among sailors for both competitive and leisurely sailing alike.

The boat is currently on its trailer, stored ashore at our brokerage yard and easily accessible. We welcome all enquires or viewing requests.
