Eté Indien / Indian Summer?
Espérons que oui! Avec les bourses en panique, la Grèce sur le point du désastre, et après un été tout à fait moyen, un peu de beau temps maintenant remonte le moral… non ?
Nous voici en plein saison des Salons d’Automne. Cannes, Ijmuiden (HISWA), le Grand Pavois de la Rochelle et maintenant Southampton Boat Show, tout ca continue à Friedrichshafen, Gênes, Hambourg, Barcelone avant de terminer à Paris mois de décembre. Et les tendances ?
Le marché reste indiscutablement difficile, surtout entre €50,000 et €500,000. Chez les Superyachts, si c’est les pour les chantiers ou les brokers, il y a du mouvement, et tout en bas du marché la vente de petites unités à moteur se porte assez bien. En voile, comme en moteur les nouveaux modèles se vendent, mais c’est dur pour les modèles plus anciens. Les chantiers Scandinaves souffrent. Le cours de change est mauvais pour eux, et les modèles traditionnelles paraissent moins populaires pour l’instant.
En occasion tout dépend du prix ! Tout bateau est vendable, et si vous cherchez à changer de bateau, tout est relatif et il vaut la peine souvent de baisser votre prix de vente, sachant que vous pouvez acheter pas cher aussi. Une crise pour l’Euro pouvait provoquer plus d’intérêt dans des bateaux à vendre en France, mais qui peut me dire si, ou quand on pouvait attendre ca ?

Let’s hope so! The markets in turmoil, Greece on strike and about to default, a summer which failed to live up to the spring…… we could do with some sunshine to cheer us all up.
We are well into the autumn Boat Show season with Cannes, HISWA, and La Rochelle behind us, Southampton about to finish, and Friedrichshafen, Genoa, Hamburg and Barcelona to follow in the run up to Paris just before Christmas. So, how are things in boat sales?
Nobody tries to pretend the market is anything other than tough! The middle of the price range is worst, with better activity amongst Superyachts and in the small motor boat sector. New models from the major builders are selling quite well, but older models are very sticky, and the Scandinavian yards have been finding life particularly hard, with Najad in receivership and others suffering from a poor exchange rate and perhaps a lack of interest in their long standing models.
In the used boat market it all comes down to price! We can sell any boat at the right price and it is well worth remembering that dropping your asking price and getting the boat sold frees you up to offer aggressively for the replacement. With the € Euro strong against the £ Pound, French boats are not selling too well into Britain, but a full blown Euro crisis could change that overnight. If only we had a crystal ball…..
