Historic Yachts displayed in London
St Katherines Dock in London looked like an outdoor historic boat museum during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations for the Queen in London were on.
Very exciting to see so many historic vessels which have helped shaped the British sailing passion of today. All shapes of boats from Classic pilot cutters to round the world blue water guzzlers, to ketch rigged, gaff rigged, just beautiful varnish work and fantastically turned out old classic boats.
Suhaili, Robin Knox Johnstons boat, was the first person to sail single handed and non-stop around the world between 14th June 1968 and 22nd April 1969.
Gipsy Moth IV left Plymouth on 27 August 1966 with 64 old Sir Francis Chichester.
Jolie Brise a gaff-rigged pilot cutter launched in Le Havre in 1913. Started life as a pilot boat, then she became a fishing boat, when steam replaced sail.
The 12 meter class Sceptre with her yellow mast.
Lots of bunting and fantastic atmosphere.
Many thanks to Gus Wilson for the photographs.
