How to Choose a Marina: Part 2
If you are looking for a boat for sale and are new to boating you may also be looking to find a marina. We have a great article on our blog about how to find a marina but it’s also useful to be aware of the Gold Anchor standards set by The Yacht Harbour Association.
TYHA is the trade association for the development of boating facilities inland and on the coast. They exist to improve boating and yachting for everyone and produce a Code of Practice, including a list of recommendations covering all sides of building and running a marina.
The association improves and advances the marine industry by supporting marina members of the British Marine Federation. They are there to help marina businesses improve and maintain their standard of service, and for the boater they help you to find a good quality marina.
They have therefore created a Gold Anchor award scheme, which is a programme of voluntary assessment in order to facilitate the provision of quality assured berthing for boat owners. The RYA also contributes towards the scheme which has been in place for 23 years. The facilities and services available can have a rating from one to five gold anchors, providing all boat owners with the knowledge they need to choose a suitable berth.
