Broker's Comments
Boatshed Wales is delighted to present this exceptional Wooden Classic by Linus Janson and Lage Eklund.
Built in 1947, just after World War II, this yacht embodies an era where craftsmanship, elegance, and a touch of panache defined boatbuilding. Forget mass-produced fiberglass—this is artistry in wood, shaped by planes, presses, spiling, and steam to create a vessel of true distinction. The result? Julia, a stunning 30-foot masterpiece.
Lovingly maintained, Julia is dry-stored each winter and enjoyed every summer. She boasts new sails, an epoxy-treated hull, fresh antifoul, and a discreetly added engine well—enhancing both her appeal and ease of use.
While upkeep is often a concern with classic yachts, her long-term owner, who undertook a full restoration, assures that maintenance is surprisingly manageable. A light sand and varnish every couple of years, plus seasonal antifouling, keeps her in prime condition. Thanks to her epoxy-treated hull, she remains dry when relaunched and does not require a period of soaking, prior to use.
Her performance is as exhilarating as her racing pedigree suggests, yet she remains easy to rig and sail, featuring a roller reefing main, hanked genoa, and lines led aft. A Yamaha 2.5hp outboard ensures smooth handling on and off moorings, while the road-legal trailer offers relocation and self-storage options.
Exciting to sail, visually stunning, and meticulously maintained—Julia is ready to be enjoyed.
