We have been twice to St Katherines Marina in January and its such a fantastic place to winter for cruisers.

We left Brighton 29 hours earlier and arrived at St Katherines Dock, London at dead low water on new years eve.

There are 3 moorings to pick up if you're early and we were assured there was enough water. We draw 2.2 meters and at low water there wasn't alot of water and the sill looked pretty close we inched our way onto the mooring. All was fine. We had quite a stiff W/SW by then and were pleased to have got to London before the second batch of gales.

We got on our VHF and booked our slot into the lock at 17.00. A warm welcome by Melanie who explained where our berth was and what the procedure was.

St Katherines is a great place to winter, there are 10 American boats and we were invited to their weekly coffee morning to swap notes.

The berths are so quiet at night time, what's refreshing is that your electric charge includes the laundry and showers, making it so easy to get your laundry done. There's a Waitrose about a minutes walk away, so fabulous fresh food when ever you need, plus Sainsburys also deliver to your boat.

You have easy access either by walking, London cabs, Underground to all parts of London. If you time it right you can take the Tower Hill DLR to Excel to the London boat show. Its one of the best cultural places to spend a few months in the UK whilst waiting for the gales to lessen before cruising again.

The Thames path is great for walking on both sides with lots to see, unique and talented buskers, to singers to mime artists.

See these links here to help you decide to winter here, but book early as it gets quite booked up or book your berth here with the St Katherines Marina team.
