This Week’s Yachting News
Bavaria, Jeanneau, Leisure and Westerly… Sail boats and yachts are never far from the news, with amusing anecdotes of what the rich or famous get up to on the water. Even if you’re just looking locally in Essex at Southerly, Carter or Pegasus boats for sale it’s fun to look at what’s happening out there on the world’s luxury yachts.
This week NationalPost.com reported that a booze-laden luxury yacht sped through the High Arctic leaving behind a trail of illegal fireworks, paintballs and bounced cheques. 51-year-old Australian tycoon Paul McDonald was leading a yacht on a circumnavigation of North America. In early September, the Fortrus, a 34-meter, seven-stateroom luxury yacht allegedly anchored just outside Cambridge Bay, a Nunavut community of 1,500 and held a “wild” party.
Meanwhile Popsugar.com reported the important news that Gwyneth kissed Chris during her birthday trip with Apple and Moses. As Gwyneth Paltrow turned 40 she enjoyed a special dinner, followed by wine and cake aboard a yacht.
Also this week, MagnoliaVoice.com reported that a world famous super yacht was visiting Magnolia, Seattle. The Luna at 377 feet long is reportedly owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, and is considered to be the world’s largest expedition motor yacht. Equipped with a large indoor pool and two helicopter pads any scientists heading on Antarctic expeditions should be more than comfortable.
